weekend plans

Obviously being a student at SRU... I do in fact have several assignments due this week one two of which are for pete technology, which is no surprise, Dr. Leight likes to keep us on our toes. It is Sunday and i have yet to enjoy the beautiful weather, so today my sister, nephew and I are planning a hike at McConnell's mills. I absolutely love the outdoors, so i am definitely looking forward to it. with that said i am working my buns off to get all of my work done so i can just enjoy the rest of the day. I would have gotten it done by now but i started reading the book "Twilight" the other day and find myself hopelessly addicted. I feel like a high school girl reading it, but it is truthfully a good book. I don't read often but when i do, i find myself completely absorbed in the love stories within the pages. If for no other reason than to envision myself in the characters shoes, I'm sure I sound a bit pathetic. Well enough about the book, its time for some home work so i can enjoy the sunshine. Hope you all do the same on such a gorgeous day!

Scheduling at SRU!

It is scheduling time at SRU. This is always a challenge, or at least i believe it is. I am up in the air on what classes I will be taking, although i will be planning out for next semester. I do plan on getting my math courses out of the way this summer as i still have that hanging over my head in order to apply for the college of Ed. Whatever I do decide, I do know that i will get the math done in the pree season, that way I can focus on working. Soon I will be meeting with my advisor to discus what i need to be taking, all i know is I still have two more years until graduation.

spring break 09 continuation

As I mentioned yesterday I am staying at my sister’s house for spring break. We celebrated my 23rd birthday. I decided against making the cake that I usually have annually for my birthday replacing it with smoothies, which were divine I must say. My brother in-law was not quite satisfied with the smoothie idea, so he insisted on getting some sort of oatmeal cake, which ended up being the oatmeal cream pie you see in the picture covered with the ball of flame representing my wisdom, or my age as some might say. We are laying it low today while my sister and brother in law are in classes at Mount Vernon Nazarene University, I might go to class with my sister a little later on today. It will be a physical psychology, I’m sure it will be interesting to say the least.

Spring Break 2009

SRU. has taken off a week for spring break, while others went to the beach i went to my sisters. I must say i am having a blast! She lives in Mount Vernon, Ohio, which is roughly 3 hours from where i live. My oldest sister and her son and I, left town yesterday and do not plan on returning until Sunday night. We plan to enjoy our time with one another, as we don't have this opportunity often. Today is my 23rd birthday, so we will be making my favorite cake which is oatmeal cake accompanied by fajitas. Which brings me to mention my vigorous work out in my sisters gym room this morning, we did a variety of movements, lunges, crunches, punching bag, trampoline, followed by stretching. This may not be a beach vacation but this is just what the doctor ordered. Enjoy your break!

Applying For The College Of Education

Now that i am a PE major at SRU, that is not where it ends, i now need to apply to the college of education. This to me was yet another hoop to jump through. I at first found it to be completely ridiculous that once you are in the program you yet need to apply to a higher level within the same program. But now that i am working on the requirements to apply successfully i realize that it is only helping me achieve everything in an orderly time fashion and with out these requirements I could see myself overlooking a critical step in the process. I have yet to take praxis one, this is my next step in the process, followed by PE 251, and my final math class which i will take this summer. I hope to be excepted by fall 2009, if all goes as planned.

My name is Dee, i recently transferred to SRU, from Clarion University. It was quite the adjustment. Slippery Rock University was hardly my first choice, but i must say it was my best choice. I was searching for a home so to say and slippery rock offered it. I am now in the physical education major, and I feel as though the staff know me on a personal level and its only my second semester. They are willing to show who they are to me as a student on a professional level but yet a human level as well. Although PE is the largest major at SRU it is definitely worth the challenge and competition down the road. I am now working on getting into the college of Ed, which is also a new idea but i only have a few more requirements to meet so I am well on my way.
